The
Founders of the Guns Club
The Corsica Guns Club was created in
November 1987 by three friends with a love for the guns and shooting to fill the
need for a sport shooting club. From 1989 to 1990, the association utilized an
army firing range to train its members and for the creation of a team focused on
shooting Metallic silhouettes. During this period, the Guns Club was built
around friends and had very few members.
Two of the members worked closely with
the city of Ajaccio to procure a site for a firing range. Since 1990 the club
has rented a site located in the nearby hills at a place called St. Antoine.
All the club’s shooting activities are situated on the 3000 square meter site.
A local gunsmith provides a site for an
office that is open during the week. At one point the club currently had more
than 200 members. In 1996, the club revised its statues to be more selective in
its membership to improve the overall club experience for its members. Today
the club has approximately 100 members. The firing range has twenty 25meter
firing positions of which ten are covered. There also four positions for the
50-100 meter range and two positions of 200 meters in length. This arrangement
allows the members several possibilities to practice their discipline.
